The curve of Gruinard Bay lies on the Wester Ross coast, between the sea lochs of Loch Ewe and Little Loch Broom. Unusually for this coast, Gruinard Bay contains three sandy beaches. The sand is pinkish in colour due to the pink rocks of Loch Torridon from which it is formed. The hilly land beyond the bay, cut through by the Inverianvie River and the Little Gruinard River and containing the Inverianvie Falls, rewards walkers with excellent views of the surrounding area.
